X- and Ku-band Single Chip Front End

Two new Single Chip Front End GaN MMICs have been developed, at X and Ku band, ideal for supporting radar applications in Satellite SAR, Commercial and Military markets. Integrating all the functions composing the RF front-end of a TR module (HPA, LNA and TR Switch), both the chips deliver the power density, efficiency, reliability and reduced size needed for next‑generation radar and surveillance platforms. Space SAR and AESA phased array radar applications are addressed.

The flagship product at X band, MECX15SCFE, operating between 8.5 – 11.5 GHz, generates 15 watts of power and delivers a Power Added Efficiency (PAE) of 35%, during the transmitting cycle, while provides a gain better than 24 dB and a Nosie Figure of about 2.5 dB on the receiving chain.

The MECKu15SCFE, optimized for the frequency range 13 – 16 GHz, is capable to transmit a power of 9 W with associated PAE of about 25%; the echo signal is then received and amplified of 24 dB with additional noise of about 2.5 dB.

Both products comply with ESA space de-rating standards.
